Official Chili Cook-off Contest Rules and Information

Contest Categories

1) The People's Choice Award
2) Holy Smokes!
3) Best Chili
4) Guns & Hoses

The People's Choice Award - Award decided based on voting by all attendees.

Holy Smokes! (Hot and Spicy) - This is a separate category and all entries must be labeled "HOT".

Best Chili - Award decided by a panel of judges who are selected in advance.

Guns & Hoses - Award for best police/fire department entry.
Rules

No food may be cooked on the premises
Please arrive by 3:30 on Sept 24th
 
  1. All chili must be delivered to the church hot and ready to serve. The chili must arrive heated to a temperature in excess of 140 degrees upon arrival at the church
  2. Please bring an extension cord with your Crockpot if possible
  3. Electricity will be provided for each Crockpot during  the event in order to maintain a steady temperature
  4. Non-latex food service gloves will be provided to each server and contestant
  5. All serving utensils will be provided by the church and sanitized prior to using
  6. We will provide disposable tasting cups and spoons
  7. All contestants/servers are required to utilize the hand washing station prior to food handling.
  8. All individuals bringing a Crockpot of chili to share must practice food safety/good hygiene when preparing food for others to consume. Visit www.foodsafety.gov for more food safety guidelines
We reserve the right to remove any chili from the contest if it arrives at our facility outside of the safe food temperature range of 140+ degrees
